Rex – The myth and the memory

Inauguration and press preview

22nd April 2013

The exhibition “Rex –the myth and the memory” promoted and hosted by the Port Authority of Genoa and edited by Paolo Piccione is a path through models, photos objects, advertising and original videos in order to rebuild the history of the Italian ocean liner which captured the Blue Riband in 1933 for the fastest navigation on the Atlantic sea.

The Rex short life, only eight years long, will be related with the support of information about the historical period and the relationship between Italy and USA. Particular attention will be paid to the deepening of the technique and the architectural and decorative point of view, aside from the life on board during the transatlantic journeys with unpublished images.

The meeting is on April 22nd at 5.30 PM at Palazzo San Giorgio in Genoa for the inauguration and there will be a press preview at 11.30 AM at the same place.

The Law on Port Reform (Law no. 84 of 28 January 1994) on the reorganisation of legislation concerning ports enables the setting up of Port Authorities, where there previously existed other forms of organisation and other bodies responsible for the control and management of State-owned maritime/port property.
