HISTORICAL ARCHIVE

The historicPort archive of the port of Genoa, conserved in Palazzo San Giorgio and containing the documentation dated between 1879 and 1945. The archive was opened to the public in December 1988.

The archive (from the Corps of Civil Engineers and the corps of Civil Engineers/CAP) contain the documents relative to the expansion and enlargement of the port of Genoa between 1870 and 1888 and subsequent documents up to 1902 - The last year the port was managed by the Corps of Civil Engineers, the Chamber of Commerce and Harbourmaster's Office which was taken over by the Consorzio Autonomo del Port of Genova in 1903.

The Consorzio Autonomo del Porto archives contain documentation ranging from 1903 to 1945 and focuses mainly on the construction of the port basin of Sampierdarena.

Al this material was inventoried and catalogued and relative indices are available to scholars .

The archive can be consulted at Palazzo San Giorgio on work days from 9 am. to 5 pm
